How Orthodontic treatment is done in our clinic?
Initial Consultation
At this stage, the orthodontist conducts an examination of the teeth and the jaws, gathers medical history, and discusses the patient’s expectations for treatment. X-rays and photographs may also be ordered for assessment.
Treatment Plan Development
The orthodontist develops an individualized treatment plan, determining the necessary type of braces, treatment duration, and intermediate steps.
Bracket Placement
On the designated day, the orthodontist places the brackets, which are attached to the teeth using special adhesive. They also install a wire that will help move the teeth into the desired position.
Interim Steps and Hygiene
During the treatment process, it is important to maintain regular dental hygiene. The orthodontist or the hygienist recommends proper brushing techniques and conducts professional cleanings to maintain the health of the teeth and the gums.
Regular Visits
The patient must regularly visit the orthodontist (usually every 4-6 weeks) to monitor progress and change the wire. At these appointments, additional adjustments may be made if necessary.
Removal of Braces
Upon completion of orthodontic treatment, the orthodontist removes the braces and cleans the teeth. After that, a retainer is fitted to maintain the result and prevent the teeth from returning to their original position.
It is suitable for children and adults?
Orthodontics can be applied to both children and adults. It is recommended to start treatment with an orthodontist around the age of 7-8 years, when children begin to get their permanent teeth. At this age, an orthodontist can identify potential bite issues and jaw development concerns. Braces can be installed starting from the age of 13-14, when the dental and jaw system has already formed.
For adults, treatment is also possible at any age. Many methods, such as braces and aligners, can be successfully used to correct the position of the teeth and improve the bite function. The main requirement is that the health of the teeth and gums allows for orthodontic treatment, and the specialist will determine the appropriate plan based on the individual needs of the patient.
